DMV DRIVER IMPROVEMENT CLASS - CHESAPEAKE VIRGINIA

Event on 2012-08-18 08:00:00

When you satisfactorily complete a driver improvement clinic, you'll learn defensive driving techniques that can help you avoid and prevent crashes. These eight-hour classroom sessions cost no more than and are offered at sites around the state and as a computer-based course on the Internet. Contact the court to be sure it will accept a computer-based course. Also, if you are under age 20, you must enroll in a clinic that provides classroom instruction.

If DMV requires you to attend a clinic, you must complete the entire eight-hour course. If you fail to satisfactorily complete the clinic within 90 days, your driving privilege will be suspended until you meet this requirement. If you are attending college outside of Virginia or you are a member of the military or a military dependent and stationed outside of Virginia, you may be eligible for an extension of the 90-day requirement. The extension will be granted only if you are in an area where no approved clinics are offered. The extension will last until a break in your schedule.

You may be awarded five safe driving points, once every 24 months, after you successfully complete a driver improvement clinic. The highest safe driving point balance you may accumulate on your driving record is five points. If a court requires you to complete a clinic, the court determines if you will be awarded safe driving points.

Successful completion of a Virginia Driver Improvement Course may result in insurance premium reduction, forgiveness of a traffic ticket or removal of points from your driving record. In addition to arming you with information on street signs and street markings, driver improvement courses also provide tips on defensive driving. They also cover Virginia state laws, such as the seatbelt law and laws relating to teen drivers.

Safety
Virginia Driver Improvement Courses are designed to make you a safer driver. You will learn defensive driving techniques that encourage you to be more conscious of other drivers and how to respond to other drivers on the road. Based in Chesapeake Virginia , +5 Safe Points Driver Improvement offers an eight-hour course that offers instruction on driving in hazardous conditions and handling driver distractions.

Laws for Drivers
Knowledge of all traffic signs, signals and street markings is essential for safe driving. Some Virginia drivers have never received formal instruction on signs, signals, street markings and traffic laws. Driver improvement classes at +5 Safe Points Driver Improvement , includes an overview of Virginia driver laws and hands-on driving instruction. +5 Safe Points Driver Improvement , offers classroom courses in the following cities Williamsburg VA, Newport News VA, Hampton VA, Norfolk VA, Chesapeake VA, Virginia Beach VA, Portsmouth VA and Suffolk VA.

Court-Ordered
Depending on the infraction, some traffic judges order drivers to participate in a driver improvement course. Successful completion of the course may lead to forgiveness of the infraction or removal or reduction of driving record points. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has a list of all court-approved driving courses, which are located throughout the state.

Insurance Discounts
Insurance companies reward drivers with clean driving records by offering insurance premium discounts. This discount is usually issued upon review of your driving record. If your driving record is less than stellar, completion of a Virginia driver improvement course may result in a discount in your insurance premium. Contact your insurance company to find out if discounts are available upon completion of a driver improvement course.

US-backed Taliban payout could prove unpopular

The US is endorsing a plan to provide financial incentives to Afghan Taliban fighters to lay down their weapons. Barack Obama, the US president, wants to begin drawing down troops by next year and the proposal could help him achieve that goal. But, while many Americans want the war to end, the idea of paying the Taliban could turn out to be unpopular. Al Jazeera's Rosiland Jordan reports. (29 Jan 2010)

Buy the Chief a Cadillac

In spare, honest, and picturesque language, Rick Steber sets this Spur Award-winning novel on the Klamath Indian reservation in 1961 just days before the tribe's "termination" by the U. S. government. Each tribal member received a ,000 settlement from the government in return for the Klamath's 1-million acre reservation and the end of the Klamath's tribal status. Buy the Chief a Cadillac explores life on the reservation for three brothers—the alcoholism, violence, greed, and madness—brought on by the white man's treatment of the tribe, and each brother's response to the termination settlement. Creek, college-bound and disgusted with reservation life, wants to take his money and run toward success in the white man's world. Chief, who represents the worst of reservation life, plans to spend his money on a new Cadillac and as much booze as he can possibly drink. Pokey, keeper of the Klamath traditions, plans on refusing the government payout and staying on his people's land. The brothers' separate plans send them on course for a deadly collision when the government money finally arrives.

Life Insurance?

My husband, 32 and I, 30 are looking into life insurance. Can anyone tell me which company or websites I can use to get information. There are so many out there... wouldnt know where to start. Who do you personally use? Is there a medical exam involved? What type of premiums are you paying? Is it fixed or does it go up every few years? We live in Florida also. Any help would be appriciated.

Answer by roxann s
Look for term insurance not whole life - a much better value for your money - you want death protection not investment out of insurance - invest in investment programs (401 - Roth IRA ETC) not life insurance - only purchase term insurance to cover the loss of an income to protect your family

Answer by aaron p
I would check around in a few different places. A little friendly competition will give you a better result. Expect to give your actual dates of birth, general health questions, and family history to get quotes. As you mentioned, there are a number of different options out there. If you know how you would generally like your life coverage to behave, I can find something to match.

Answer by saberhilt
There are two types of Insurance; Permanent and Term.

Permanent Polcies remain at the same monthly cost for the rest of your life.

Term policies remain fixed for a set number of years. After the set number of years the policy either terminates or can be rewriten for the same length of time, but you'll now be evaluated at your new age, not the age you are now.

Permanent Policies are similiar to buying a home. The policy builds Cash value and could potential increase your death benefit. You can take a loan out against your own cash value or should you cancel the policy at a later time, you will get the cash value paid out to you at that time.

Term policies are like renting. After the set term (5, 10, 20, 30 years) each party walks away. You don't get any money back, but you'll have paid less over the course of the 10 years.

If you were to get a 20 yr term policy now, at age 50 your policy would end (unless you had already died). You could then get another policy, but they'd rate you as a 50 year old, not a 30 year old. and at each of these 20 year renewals, you'll have to go through medical screening again.

If you were to get Permanent Policy now, you'll have a higher premium now, but at age 50 you'll still be paying the same amount as you are now. At age 70 you'll still be paying the same amount as you are now. At age 90? Same amount.

To figure out how much coverage you'll need, here's a handy tool: L.I.F.E.
L: Liabilities: mortgage, car note, student loans, credit cards
I: Income replacement: 5 to 10 times your annual income (though in your case, each of you have another 30-35 years working life in you, you might want more)
F: Final Expenses: Typically $ 10-25 k
E: Education: Education for your spouse, should they need to change careers to maintain their standard of living after you pass and/or college tuition for any childre you may leave behind.

So, with a $ 200k mortgage, $ 25k car loan, and $ 15k Student Loan, your "L" is $ 240k.
If you're making $ 50k annually, you'll need $ 500k for "I."
Let's call "F" at $ 15k
"E"? Well, 2 kids at $ 20k per year for 4 years each translate to $ 160k.

This mean you'll need $ 915,000 worth of Life Insurance.

I have my Life with State Farm. It's also giving me a discount on my car insurance.

Answer by Mark S
Check the related link below for additional info regarding whole life policies.

Insurance, when it started, was meant to be for a period of time- TERM. After a while companies changed to wanting to make as much as possible while paying out as little as possible. They created whole life and all its variations. People say term is like renting.

NOPE!!! It is about understanding that the money in a whole life policy is not yours but the companies. There are five funny rules about whole life: 1) In first 2 years there is NO cash value. 2) When it does start to accrue, you get only 1-4%. 3) You can borrow, but you pay the Company a fee of 6-8% to take your money out. 4) They can and will make you wait to get your money. 5) Your beneficiaries will get one or the other. Meaning, they will receive face amount or cash value- their choice; almost always it is face amount. What about cash value? The company keeps it!! Unless you pay more in premiums for your people to receive it.

Life insurance is not the appropriate term I like using. It is more appropriately income protection insurance. If anybody relies on you for a paycheck you are OBLIGATED to get and have income protection insurance.

Buy term and invest the difference. Term is for a period of time. That time period is to be used to accumulate enough money to become self insured. Once you are self insured, you no longer need any or as much insurance as you did. This is called the theory of decreasing responsibility. When young, you need as much as possible because you have kids, debt mortgage, education and you have little in the way of available assets. But, later you had better have saved money for retirement. Now you need little to none because retirement has been taken care of, kids are grown- out of house, education taken care of, debt and mortgage is paid for.

For those of us your age, term is the only way to go. All the others are smoke and mirrors. Sometimes the agent doesn't even know about thgeir policies and how they work.If they do and don't tell you- Shame on them!!! By using term, you get max coverage for as little as possible. Make sure it is level term- premiums do not go up, make sure that the entire family is covered on one policy- multiple policies mean multiple policy fees, and increased commission, make sure that children are covered under one payment- both present kids and future ones, and make sure that the agent completes a comprehensive financial analysis for your family.

I hope this has helped.

What Has Been The Effect

What has been the effect of online insurance on the insurance intermediary?
by GEE2006

When online insurance emerged it provided private and corporate clients with the opportunity of purchasing insurance products online without the use of the intermediary. What if any has been the effect of online insurance on the insurance intermediary.

Answer(s):

Answer by JAREAD
If you want Insurance go directly to the Insurance Company. I know of one person who paid an Intermediary and later found out the hard way that he did not purchase Insurance. In other words, he thought he was purchasing insurance, but he was not.

i've applied for medical assistance and i was denied my appeal isn't until the end of the month. i just lost my job which means i just lost my insurance and i need to get the ultrasound to see if i have an etopic pregnancy which couldn't be confirmed by urine pregnancy test. i know i'm all messed up :(

Answer(s):

Answer by 9/4/08
do you all have medicaid in maryland? if so, you probably need to go apply for that--- i dont really think they can deny you since you are pregnant

Answer by tj
Explain that to the dr. that you saw and see what they suggest. It is ILLEGAL for the medical field to deny you treatment or tests that are dr. ordered if you have no insurance. You may have to pay a portion upfront or sign something that you agree to make a payment plan to pay for this later on then and give them proper billing information too.

Answer by Pregnant with a baby girl =)
Just go to the hospital and get one, they'll bill you for it but you can deal with that later. And please, find some insurance; there are ways to get it for free since you're pregnant, but no one will give you an ultrasound for free without insurance.

Zane Benefits Publishes Overview Of

August 14, 2012

Zane Benefits, which provides comprehensive and flexible alternatives to traditional employer health insurance, today published an overview of the Contraceptive Coverage Exemption.

The Affordable Care Act regulations provide an exemption from the requirement to cover contraceptive services without cost-sharing under the newly adopted HRSA guidelines for certain group health plans maintained by an organization that qualifies as a ?religious employer? under the regulations.

To qualify as a religious employer, an organization must meet all of the following criteria:

????Inculcation of religious values is the purpose of the organization
Primarily employ persons who share the religious tenets of the organization
Serve primarily persons who share the religious tenets of the organization
Is a nonprofit organization under Internal Revenue Code Sections 6033(a)(1) and 6033(a)(3)(A)(i) or (iii)

Similarly, federal regulatory agencies have established a one-year safe harbor from the contraceptive coverage requirements ? until the first plan year that begins on or after Aug. 1, 2013 ? for group health plans maintained by an organization that does not qualify for the above exemption but satisfies certain other requirements.

To qualify for this one-year temporary enforcement ?safe harbor,? an organization must satisfy all of the following criteria:

????Is organized and operates as a non-profit entity

????From Feb. 10, 2012, and onward, has not provided contraceptive coverage at any point by the plan, consistent with applicable state law, because of the organization?s religious beliefs

????Provides participants a notice, which is provided in the guidance, indicating that contraceptive coverage will not be provided under the plan for the first plan year beginning on or after Aug. 1, 2012. The notice must be provided in any ?application materials? distributed in connection with enrollment or re-enrollment in coverage that is effective beginning on the first day of the first plan year that is on or after Aug. 1, 2012.

????Self-certifies that it satisfies these criteria and documents this self-certification by the first day of the plan year to which the one-year temporary enforcement safe harbor applies

Fixed Mortgage Rates Increase Following

Wilmington, NC August 14, 2012

Average mortgage rates rose for the second consecutive week, reports mortgage rate research website, BurlingtonMortgage.biz. Rate and fee combinations posted by mortgage banks and lenders in the rate tables on the website reflected the increase, though the price of home financing remains close to historic lows.

On Thursday, August 9th, 2012 30 year fixed home loan pricing was advertised on the site as low as 3.13% (APR: 3.34%, Points: 1.468, Fees in APR: $ 1995, Lender: AimLoan.com,) and 15 year fixed mortgage rates were shown as low as 2.75% (APR: 2.75%, Points: 0.000, Fees in APR: $ 0, Lender: Pleasant Valley Home Mortgage.) Rates for the 5 year adjustable rate mortgage product were posted as low as 2.13% (APR: 3.09%, Points: 1.000, Fees in APR: $ 2460, Lender: Credence Mortgage.)

The increase came on the heels of a positive employment report, showing that US employment rose by 163,000 jobs in July. The news from a Friday, August 3rd Bureau of Labor Statistics report revealed that while the unemployment rate of 8.3 percent held constant, more jobs were added than expected, causing investors to continue to cautiously move funds away from the security of US Treasuries.

"Though mortgage rates have seen two weeks of increases we are still just above the historic low point," said Nat Criss, Managing Partner of CMG Equities, LLC, which runs BurlingtonMortgage.biz. "Many home buyers and homeowners have an opportunity to secure home financing at an incredibly low cost, even those with little to no equity thanks to the HARP refinancing program," he continued.

Current mortgage rates for a number of different residential mortgage programs can be viewed on BurlingtonMortgage.biz. Below is a snapshot of mortgage rates for a variety of products listed on the site on 8/9/2012. Baltimore, MD mortgage rates represented in this sample. Rates are subject to change. by livinlife
